An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 43 1/2" x 59" [110 x 150 cm]) (Learn More) Leonce Flirt (literally translates to "Leonce Flirting"), the 1913 Leonce Perret French silent romantic comedy short (released by Gaumont Films) starring Leonce Perret (in the title role), and Suzanne Grandais. A print of this movie was shown at a film festival in 2015, and it described it as follows: "An episode in the ongoing saga of Leonce and Suzanne's turbulent but loving married life. Spotting him through her binoculars flirting with an elegant lady, Suzanne departs the marital home in a huff..." The only poster for this movie we have seen is the French one-panel, which has great art of a woman with a black cat at her feet separated from a sleeping man by a screen, while a cherubic winged angel tickles the man's nose with a feather, while a cherubic Cupid (with bow & arrows) watches. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this French one-panel, which is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie, and that was 7 years ago, when it sold for $304! Note that apparently this poster was created and used for several different comedy shorts (likely they either were part of a series, or they had the same actors). We say this because we have seen this poster for this movie, and also from "Men Were Deceivers Ever", a movie made the same year. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that movie paper from this film is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we were consigned this poster, which is a an extremely rare pre-World War II "country of origin" French poster! Virtually no French posters survive from the 1940s or earlier, because during World War II there were many paper shortages resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Also note that this French one-panel was printed in France, but was intended to be used when the movie was shown in English speaking countries. Condition: fair to good. The poster has tears and small areas of paper loss on parts of the folds and borders, with some darkening around the edges and on parts of the folds, and on the back of the part of the poster that was on the outside when it was fully folded.
