An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More)

The Leavenworth Case, the 1936 Lewis D. Collins detective murder mystery crime thriller ("Most famous of American detective novels"; "The mystery that led the procession of all modern mystery stories"; "Based on Anna Katherine Green's famous novel", written in 1878!; about an rich old man who is found dead, and it is ruled a suicide, but a sharp detective discovers that he was actually murdered, and since many people wanted him dead, there are lots of suspects, and the old man had a pet monkey which figures prominently in the plot) starring Donald Cook, Jean Rouverol, Norman Foster, Erin O'Brien-Moore, Warren Hymer, and Maude Eburne. Note that the original U.S. version has the killer be a member of the man's own family, and British censors refused to show the movie because of this, so Republic took the unusual step of re-filming the ending, making an entirely different cast member the killer, and that version was shown outside the U.S., while the original version was shown within the U.S.! Both versions still exist, and I can't think of any other time that this was done!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: This window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: good. The card has darkened around the edges and it is fragile with tears and tiny paper loss in the borders (there are two tape repairs on the back of the borders). Note that the bottom border is quite narrow and the words "PRINTED IN U.S.A." are slightly cut off, but the card measures a full 22", and it appears it was just printed slightly off-center.
