eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 2x250 ZIEGFELD GIRL German program '47 different images of Judy Garland & many top MGM stars! Date Sold 11/22/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1947 (from the first release of this movie in Germany) Vintage German Film Program (measures 5" x 10 1/2" [13 x 27 cm]; 6 pages) (Learn More) Ziegfeld Girl, the 1941 Robert Z. Leonard & Busby Berkeley breaking-into-show-business New York City Broadway theater stage romantic gambling musical ("Greatest musical extravaganza of all time!"; about three beautiful young women who get jobs working as showgirls for the famous Flo Ziegfeld, and the movie tracks their private lives, which are very different and very complicated) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart), Judy Garland, Hedy Lamarr, Lana Turner, Edward Everett Horton, Tony Martin, Jackie Cooper, Ian Hunter, Charles Winninger, Philip Dorn, Al Shean, Eve Arden, and Leslie Brooks (uncredited in her first movie as one of the Ziegfeld Girls!). Note that MGM was famous for having "more stars than there were in Heaven", and because they were under contract by the week rather than by the movie, they could put them into multiple movies each year. How rare is it for a single Hollywood movie to have three female stars who became superstars (in this case, Judy Garland, Hedy Lamarr, and Lana Turner), and of course, Jimmy Stewart also became a superstar! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this program is from a special series of showings of American movies in the "American Zone" of West Germany beginning in 1945, and running for the next three years or so (apparently, Laura was so popular that it was shown in both 1946 and 1947, and there are two different programs for these two different showings). Each of these special programs have "Published with approval of Military Government" printed on the back. In 1946, West Germany began having regular showings of American movies, and the same movies that were shown in these special showings between 1945 and 1948 were again shown beginning in 1946, so there would be two different programs for each of these movies, one like this, and one "regular" program issued later. Also note that this program has six pages, but it is printed on a large single sheet that is tri-folded (we have photographed each side of the program completely unfolded). Condition: very good.
