An Original Vintage Exhibitor Magazine (measures 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" [23 x 31 cm]; 28 pages) (Learn More) Columbia Mirror ("Dedicated to the Spirit of Showmanship"), the monthly exhibitor magazine published by Columbia Pictures and sent to theaters to try to get them to exhibit their latest pictures, and each issue had illustrated stories about the latest Columbia releases, and about the stars and directors of those releases. The magazine was published starting in 1935, but issues of it are so incredibly rare, that we don't know how long it was published, or starting or ending years. It seems that this magazine started out in the early 1930s as Columbia Showman, and at some point in 1935, the title changed to Columbia Mirror, but there may have been a gap between the two publications, and it may be that they are not connected, but that seems very unlikely. We do know that in late 1935, Columbia published a campaign book for "1935-36", and they made it an issue of Columbia Mirror, and we know that the following year, they did not do this, and published a separate campaign book for 1936-37. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Important Added Info: Note that this magazine is incredibly rare, and somehow we were consigned two different issues from two different consignors, when we hadn't previously been consigned any in all our years of auctioning! This issue has a great story about Frank Capra making "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington", and another great story about "Only Angels Have Wings", plus more! Also note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, and also pictures of one or more interior two-page spreads (but we didn't make much effort to find the best ones!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine. Please realize that sometimes there were only a few ads in each magazine, and sometimes quite a few, but that often the bulk of each magazine is taken up by stories about current productions and other information of interest to theater owners (and I don't know that this information can be found anywhere else or that it has been reproduced in any book since its first publication!). Condition: very good. There is scuffing down the left of the cover and some around the edges, but the interior of the magazine is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
