An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm]) (Learn More) Traffic in Souls or While New York Sleeps, the 1913 George Loane Tucker silent New York City Swedish-immigrant-girls-sold-into-prostitution-by-gangster sex crime melodrama ("The Great White Slave Photo Drama"; "Six Reels of Thrilling Realities"; "A Powerful Photo-Drama of Today"; "6 Parts 700 Scenes 600 Players"; loosely based on a report by John D. Rockefeller's Rockefeller Commission and an investigation by New York District Attorney Charles S. Whitman) starring Jane Gail, Ethel Grandin, William H. Turner, Matt Moore, and William Welsh. Note that this is one of the first productions of Universal Studios, and it is interesting to note that one of the greatest of studios started off making an exploitation movie (which made lots of money, and helped Carl Laemmle to expand his studio and become one of the leading Hollywood studios). Also note that, at a cost of $25,000, it was reported to be the most expensive feature film made to that time! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this one-sheet, and that was 11 years ago, when it sold for $2,855! Also note that this one-sheet has a very unusual poster design, especially for such an early movie, because there is intriguing border art on the left and right of the poster, including the very unusual black silhouette of the policeman at right! Also note that this one-sheet measures 28" x 42". Please do not bid on this poster thinking it is 27" x 41". What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was folded across the middle, but it did not have other regular folds. It had a few tears around the edges and tiny paper loss in the center of that middle fold, and it had some faint scuffs in the solid black areas, but generally has surely survived in about as good condition as one could hope for a poster that is over 100 years old, and it will display wonderfully on the new owner's wall!
