An Original Vintage Theatrical Chapter #1 (The Chosen Victim) Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Return of Chandu (The Magician), the 1934 Ray Taylor black magic fantasy horror serial sequel ("He's back! The Master of Magic and Thrills"; "with a Distinguished Cast") starring Bela Lugosi (in the title role as Chandu), Maria Alba, Murdock MacQuarrie, Phyllis Ludwig, and Clara Kimball Young. Note that Chandu the Magician was a radio show that started airing in Los Angeles in 1931, and went nationwide the following year. That was also when a movie adaptation, called Chandu the Magician, was made. Two years later, this sequel, The Return of Chandu, was made, and this time, Bela Lugosi played the lead role, after having a supporting role in the prequel. The show went off the air in 1936. It was revived in 1948 as a 15 minute show and ran for two years. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one lobby card from chapter 1 of this serial in all our years of auctioning, and that card was only in "poor to fair" condition! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card had a 5" diagonal tear in the top left and a 3" horizontal tear in the lower left, with a few pinholes, smudges, stains, and small tears around the edges. Someone performed some restoration to the card without backing it, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
