The 31st Annual Academy Awards (also known as the Oscars), the 1959 Alan Handley awards ceremony which was held on April 6th at the RKO Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. Note that this was the year Gigi broke the record previously set by Gone With the Wind for the most Oscars, winning 9! Also note, this was the year Susan Hayward won her Best Actress Oscar for I Want to Live!
