Coast Guard, the 1937 Alan James & William Witney mad scientist science fiction (sci-fi) adventure serial ("Uncle Sam's first line of defense battling the marauders of the deep!"; "A Republic Serial in 12 Lightning Episodes"; "Original story by Morgan Cox, Ronald Davidson"; a wacky story of Coast Guard men who hear of a mad scientist who has discovered a mineral that gives off radioactive gas and destroys everything it touches, except for glass, and they are told he is dead, but they discover he is alive, and by the last chapter of the serial, they have him trapped, and he and his giant servant are drowned) starring Ralph Byrd, Bela Lugosi (as Boroff, the mad scientist), Maxine Doyle, Richard Alexander (as Thorg, the giant servant), Lee Ford, and Roy Barcroft. Note that this was a 12 chapter serial, and it was not released in a feature version in 1937, but five years later, Republic Pictures did release an edited feature version, with the same title, and since America was now in World War II, a prologue was added congratulating America's Coast Guard! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still measures 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm]. Note that this still has a stamp on the back in the form of a diamond that has the letters "TRR". One certainly might wonder who placed this stamp there and why. The answer is that the still (and many others we are auctioning in this set of auctions) come to us from a still collector who has collected for many decades, and long ago he began stamping the back of his stills with this stamp, and "TRR" is his initials! Each of the stills is stamped lightly, and the stamp does NOT affect the front of the still. He is a VERY advanced collector, and he has consigned many wonderful stills to us! Condition: good. There are pieces of tape in each corner. There are some faint dot stains scattered down the right edge. There is similar staining on the back of parts of the still, but it does not otherwise affect the front. Learn More about condition grades
