An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Monkey Business, the 1931 Norman Z. McLeod cruise-ship-stowaway seafaring slapstick comedy ("The Four Marx Brothers"; about the four brothers stowing away on a transatlantic cruise ship; concepts from this movie were reused in A Night at the Opera and Room Service) starring the Marx Brothers (Groucho Marx, Harpo Marx, Chico Marx, and Zeppo Marx), Rockliffe Fellowes, Harry Woods, Thelma Todd, Ruth Hall, and Billy Barty NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have been consigned ALL eight of the lobby cards from this most classic Marx Bros comedy, which we are currently auctioning in eight separate auctions. The lobby cards from the Marx Bros. Paramount movies have always been FAR more difficult to locate than the cards from their MGM movies (we have only previously auctioned ONE lobby card from this movie, and that was 31 years ago!). Note that the eight cards were discovered in their original brown lobby card bag, and are in excellent unrestored condition. Many of the other lobby cards that we have seen for sale or in other auctions have been either somewhat restored or heavily restored. This is a rare opportunity to obtain any or all of these extremely rare and desirable lobby cards, with the giant plus that they are completely unrestored and in very nice condition! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good to fine. The card has darkened somewhat, typical of Paramount lobby cards of this period. It has a tiny pinhole in each top corner and three extremely tiny "bumps" in the bottom blank border. It has a faint partial crease in the right of the bottom border, extending into the girl's leg. It has a tiny partial crease in the bottom right corner. Otherwise, the card is in really nice condition. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Note that we graded each of the eight cards in this set EXTREMELY "harshly", grading four of the cards "very good to fine" and four "very good". We know that they are in far better condition than the vast majority of cards that exist from this title, or of any 1931 Paramount lobby cards. We think many people would call the four better cards "mint" and the others "near mint", but we wanted to give a very detailed description of the exact extremely minor defects each card has, due to their extreme rarity and high value!
