Date Sold 7/30/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Sinners' Holiday, the 1930 John G. Adolfi Coney Island Brooklyn New York penny arcade romantic crime thriller ("Based on the play by Marie Baumer") starring Grant Withers, Evalyn Knapp, James Cagney, Lucille La Verne, Noel Madison, and Joan Blondell. Note that this movie is most notable for being James Cagney's VERY first movie ever! He has such a minor role that he is not billed on some of the posters, and third billed on other items, and not pictured on any posters that we know of. Also in the movie is Joan Blondell, who was in her fifth movie, and received no billing on any posters. Bizarrely, one of the eight lobby cards pictured both Cagney and Blondell by themselves! Certainly, in 1930, this would have been the ultimate "dead card", because it pictured two completely unknown actors, but in the late 1990s, Bruce Hershenson discovered a set of cards from this movie, and that card auctioned for around $1,600! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a window card (17 years ago), six lobby cards, two glass slides, and two stills (and the last still sold for $227) from this movie, and NO other movie paper, until we received this third still! Note that this is one of eighteen wonderful single stills from James Cagney's early 1930s movies (which we are currently auctioning in eighteen separate auctions). These are some of the finest James Cagney stills we have ever seen! Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
