An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked French Large Movie Poster (31x47; measures 31 3/4" x 47" [81 x 119 cm]) (Learn More) Don Camillo (released in the U.S. in 1953 as "The Little World Of Don Camillo"), the 1952 Julien Duvivier French/Italian Catholic church religious comedy ("From the uproarious Book-of-the-Month Best Seller by Giovanni Guareschi!"; "An American Language hit from I.F.E."; "Based on the novel by Giovanni Guareschi") starring Fernandel (billed as "starring the Incomparable Fernandel"; in the title role as Don Camillo), Gino Cervi, Vera Talchi, Franco Interlenghi, Chalres Vissieres, and Sylviei. Note that this movie was filmed twice, once for the Italian-language version and once for the French-language version, with the same top stars. Also note that this movie proved very popular at the box office and spawned a number of sequels in the 1950s and 1960s. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 1950s re-release French poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this partially French movie! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The entire poster had darkened somewhat, typical of French posters of this period. It had darkening along the folds, with paper loss at the crossfolds, and a few tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
