An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) A Boy of Flanders, the 1924 Victor Schertzinger silent juvenile orphan family relationship melodrama ("Adapted from Ouida's 'A Dog of Flanders'"; "Produced under supervision of Jack Coogan, Sr."; about a young Dutch boy who is orphaned, and the daughter of the richest man in town is the only one kind to him, but her father does all he can to drive the boy away) starring Jackie Coogan, Nigel De Brulier, Lionel Belmore, Nell Craig, and Jeanne Carpenter. Note that in the movie, the orphan boy is helped greatly by a dog, and the part of the dog was played by "Teddy", who had appeared in many Mack Sennett comedies. This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: good to very good. The card had a brown water stain running from the middle of the title across to the right border. There was a faint water stain surrounding Coogan's face and a 3" tear in the left of the top blank border. Other than these defects, the card had a few faint smudges scattered throughout. A talented restorer removed most of the water staining through chemical means and then paperbacked the card, and it displays well! Learn More about condition grades
