An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Cool Hand Luke, the classic 1967 Stuart Rosenberg prison escape crime thriller ("The man... and the motion picture that simply do not conform."; "What we have here is a failure to communicate."; "It looks like Luke is communicating real good- with women... with men... like with just about everybody!"; "'Hell - that Luke is a real world-shaker!'"; about a hard headed inmate) starring Paul Newman ("Paul Newman just bugs the establishment as Cool Hand Luke"; nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role "as Cool Hand Luke", Lucas Jackson), George Kennedy (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Dragline), J.D. Cannon (as Society Red), Jo Van Fleet (as Arletta, Luke's mother), Robert Drivas (as Loudmouth Steve), Lou Antonio (as Koko), Strother Martin (as "Captain", the warden of the prison), Dennis Hopper (as Babalugats), Clifton James (as Carr), Wayne Rogers (as Gambler), Harry Dean Stanton (as Tramp), Morgan Woodward (as Boss Godfrey, "the man with no eyes", who has no dialogue at all, but who plays a very significant role), Joy Harmon (as "Lucille", the sexy girl washing the car), Cyril 'Chips' Robinson (as the black African American boy who helps Paul Newman escape), Jan Watson, and Susanne Benton (Watson and Benton only appear in the photo that Luke sends to the inmates of the prison to cheer them up!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still appears in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the still was printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that it WAS printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So it is an original still from 1967, but it was printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
