Plange first presented his flour at the World's Fair in Vienna in 1873 and he named it Kaisermehl (Kaiser flour) after it won an award. However, after Kaiser Wilhelm II dismissed Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, Plange changed the title of the flour in protest. Plange was the first miller to pack his flour into budget-friendly units and distribute them as household flour. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
