An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14 1/2" x 19" [37 x 48 cm]) (Learn More)

Anna Karenina, the 1948 Julien Duvivier English Russia romantic adultery melodrama (produced by Alexander Korda; based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy) starring Vivien Leigh (in the title role as Anna Karenina), Ralph Richardson (as Alexei Karenin), Kieron Moore (as Count Vronsky), Sally Ann Howes ("by permission of the J. Arthur Rank Organisation"), and Niall MacGinnis. Note that there was an earlier version of this movie under the same name in 1935 starring Greta Garbo and Fredric March (and Garbo had previously played this same role in a silent version in 1927 re-titled "Love", and there had been eight earlier silent versions between 1910 and 1919!).

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards). The poster also had some tiny bits of paper loss in the horizontal fold across the middle and minor wear on the other folds. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
