An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 13 1/4" x 30" [34 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) The Barbarian and the Geisha, the 1958 John Huston historical Japan Asian political romantic adventure thriller melodrama ("The Geisha Girl They Sent to Love And to Destroy the Barbarian From the West!"; "Story by Ellis St. John"; about the first U.S. ambassador to Japan, Townsend Harris, who was appointed by President Pierce) starring John Wayne (as Townsend Harris), Eiko Ando (in the title role as the Geisha, Okichi), Sam Jaffe, So Yamamura, and Norman Thomson. Note that there is an embarrassing typo on the poster! Original author Ellis St. Joseph is billed as "Ellis St. John"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. There are a few creases scattered throughout the poster (some from it being oddly folded at one time).
