An Original 1937 (from the first release of this movie in Sweden) Vintage Theatrical Folded Swedish Movie Poster (measures 35 3/4" x 47 1/4" [91 x 120 cm]) (Learn More) Lloyds of London, the 1936 Henry King England finance banking insurance romantic historical biography (produced by Darryl F. Zanuck; about Jonathan Blake, the man who help found the famous English insurance firm, but the movie takes GREAT liberties with what really occurred, and only has the slightest connection to the real story!) starring Freddie Bartholomew (as the young Jonathan Blake; his role is fairly minor, but he still got top billing, reflective of how big a star he was at this time!), Madeleine Carroll, Guy Standing (billed as "Sir Guy Standing"), Tyrone Power Jr. (as Jonathan Blake; in his first big success, but he is fourth billed), C. Aubrey Smith, Virginia Field, George Sanders (low billed, in his first year of credits roles!), "and a Mammoth Cast". Note that Freddie Bartholomew was at the height of his career when this movie was made, and even though he only played the star of the movie as a youth in a short part of the movie, he was still given top billing! Also note that this movie had a brief release at the end of 1936 (no doubt to qualify for awards), but went into wide release of January of 1937, so some of the movie paper for it is dated 1936 and some of it is dated 1937, but it is all from the first release of the movie. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Eric Rohman Important Added Info: Note that most Swedish posters of this period were printed in a size that was very close to U.S. one-sheets. But for an unknown reason, this poster was made in a larger size (35 3/4" x 47 1/4"), but it was still printed on a single sheet! Also note that Tyrone Power receives top billing on this poster, whereas he received fourth billing on the U.S. one-sheet, which means it is likely that this poster is not from 1936. However, it was quite common for U.S. movies to be released in other countries the following year after the U.S. release (there was often a time lag for movies to play in other countries, both to and from the United States), and given that Tyrone Power became a major star immediately after the release of this movie (he received top billing in his very next movie, "In Old Chicago"), we believe it is very likely that this poster dates from 1937. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good to fine. The poster was folded across the middle. There are some creases along the fold and some tiny tears in the blank borders. There is 1" of separation at the right end of the foldline. Learn More about condition grades
