An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Tread Softly, the 1952 David MacDonald English theater stage acting murder mystery crime musical comedy melodrama ("Musical comedy in a haunted theatre of mystery... and murder!"; about an actress who walks out on the opening night of a play in a famous London theater, and she is quickly replaced, but the lead is murdered, and it turns out there had been a series of murders in the same theater over the past 40 years, and is it a ghost, or someone seeking revenge?) starring Frances Day, John Bentley, Patricia Dainton, John Laurie, and Nora Nicholson. Note that this is a low budget updating of The Phantom of the Opera, bringing it to the then-present day, but of course, without the high production values or top name actors!
Artist: J. Graven
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this poster, and that was 15 years ago, and that was the only item we have ever previously auctioned from this movie!

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had some creases, tiny tears, and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds, with paper loss in the center of the top blank border. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
