An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Italian Locandina Movie Poster (measures 13" x 28" [33 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Tom e Jerry Sul Sentiero Di Guerra (literally translates to "Tom and Jerry on the Warpath"), the 1961 Italian Tom & Jerry cat-and-mouse chase animated animation cartoon comedy short compilation. The shorts in this compilation included: Billy Boy, Tennis Chumps, Dog Trouble, Heavenly Puss, Nit Witty Kitty, One Cab's Family, The Midnight Snack, Mouse For Sale, Fine Feathered Friend, Cat and Mermouse, and Professor Tom. Note that this poster is far more violent (and far more true to the spirit of the actual cartoons!) than the bland U.S. posters from the same time period! Note that Tom and Jerry is a classic series of cartoons created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The first one was created in 1940, and there as a total of 114 cartoons through 1957. Seven of these won Academy Awards for Best Cartoon, tying for most wins with Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies. There were around 50 more cartoons created after the first run ended, through the early 2000s, and there were also TV shows based on these classic characters. Some people have criticized the cartoons for their "excessive violence", but actually no blood or gore was ever shown in any of them, and this type of violence is commonly referred to as "cartoon violence". Many of the Tom and Jerry cartoons are extremely clever and make wonderful use of music. They are not nearly as appreciated today as they should be, but in their day, they were among the most popular cartoons of the 1940s! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that virtually all of the Tom and Jerry posters from non-U.S. countries that we have seen have had ultra violent images (far more so than U.S. posters from the same cartoons). But oddly, this locandina has a completely non-violent image, with all of the characters happy and friendly! We wonder why that is. Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards. Note that while this poster technically COULD be rolled in a tube, the backing is heavy enough that we strongly advise against it. Therefore, we will only send this poster in a very large flat package, unless the new owner insists on a tube, and accepts responsibility for any damage caused by it being rolled. The poster will arrive fine and display great if it is sent in a flat package, but it will cost more to send this way, especially if the poster is being sent outside the U.S., so please only bid on this poster when you take into mind the cost of shipping it in a very large flat package. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had some tiny creases and fine surface paper loss on the folds. It was folded back 2" from the top and stapled in that area, and there were staple holes around the edges. There were a few smudges, scuffs, and stains scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
