An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Sally in our Alley, 1927 Walter Lang silent girl-of-the-tenements romantic love triangle comedy ("An idyll of the tenements"; "From the story by Edward Clark"; about an orphan girl who is "adopted" by three kindly men who live on the street where she does, one Irish, one Jewish, and one Italian, and when she becomes a teenager, she has a plumber boyfriend, but then a rich woman comes and takes her away because she is her aunt, but the girl soon realizes she prefers her old friends and her old life, and she marries her plumber!) starring Shirley Mason (in the title role as Sally Williams), Richard Arlen, Alec B. Francis, Paul Panzer, William H. Strauss, Kathlyn Williams, Florence Turner, and Harry Crocker. Note that "Sally in Our Alley" was a popular poem and song first written in 1725. There was a silent movie of that name in 1916 and a sound movie in 1931, but neither movie has a connection to this movie beyond the name. Finally, note that this was one of the early starring roles Richard Arlen received after his great success in "Wings", earlier this same year! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1927 U.S. movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single poster or lobby card from this movie (only a small Argentinean poster) until we received this one-sheet, and we are also auctioning a different style one-sheet in a separate auction! There is a real oddity about the two one-sheets from this movie. One says "STYLE A" and the other says "1-A", and clearly someone made a mistake and one was intended to be style B, but it did not get caught, so it is a movie that has two style A one-sheets! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was folded in half an extra time. It had some tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss scattered in the right half of the top horizontal fold and a much lesser amount of wear on the other folds. It had a 6" of separation with tiny bits of paper loss in the top of the right extra vertical fold and a few tiny pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
