Date Sold 6/12/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Wyoming Outlaw, the 1939 George Sherman cowboy western ("Based on the characters created by William Colt McDonald") starring The Three Mesquiteers (John Wayne, Ray 'Crash' Corrigan, and Raymond Hatton), Don 'Red' Barry, Pamela Blake, LeRoy Mason, Charles Middleton, Elmo Lincoln (best remembered for being the very first actor to portray Tarzan in the movies in 1918), Yakima Canutt. Note that this movie was one of several John Wayne quickly made immediately after his star-making role in 1939's "Stagecoach", and first release movie paper of any kind is extremely rare! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card has been personally autographed (signed) by Yakima Canutt! Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a reputable dealer. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Note that John Wayne had his first chance at stardom in 1930 with "The Big Trail", and when that was not successful, he spent a few years in minor roles, and then became a major B-western star, and stayed that way until 1939, when he made "Stagecoach" and became a major star. At that point, all of his 1930s B-westerns were re-released, and no doubt that adds to the rarity of original lobby cards from those movies (many times, original movie paper from movies with quick re-releases is scarce, and B-western lobby cards from the mid 1930s were always scarce anyway, because few theaters likely ordered them). Original 1939 lobby cards from this movie are incredibly scarce, and we have only previously auctioned two other cards (the last one sold for $707)! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: good to very good. The inscription was personalized to someone, and someone (likely the second owner) tried to erase the name at the top of the inscription, then performed amateur restoration to that area. Other than this defect, the card has a few pinholes in the top blank border and one in the center of the bottom blank border. Learn More about condition grades
