A Set of 8 2021 "Faux" Lobby Cards (measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]; see below) (Learn More) The Public Enemy, the classic 1931 William A. Wellman gangster organized crime melodrama ("A story that will startle the entire world"; "The cold-blooded hot-head whose guns roared across the 'decade of death'!") ("with a huge cast including") starring James Cagney (as Tom Powers), Jean Harlow (as Gwen Allen), Edward Woods (as Matt Doyle), Joan Blondell (as Mamie), Beryl Mercer (as Ma Powers), Donald Cook (as Mike Powers), Leslie Fenton (as Nails Nathan), Murray Kinnell (as Putty Nose), Mae Clarke (uncredited, as Kitty, the girl who Cagney hits in the face with a grapefruit!), Frankie Darro (as James Cagney's best friend, when both were boys), and Robert Emmett O'Connor (as Paddy Ryan). Note that Edward Woods was originally cast as the lead in this movie, and James Cagney was to play his friend, but after a couple of days of filming, director William Wellman had the two actors switch roles, and Cagney became a super star, and Woods only made a total of 13 movies before retiring in 1938! AND White Heat, the classic 1949 Raoul Walsh romantic love triangle crime film noir ("James Cagney in His New Hit from Warner Bros."; "James Cagney is red hot in 'White Heat'"; "His New Hit from Warner Bros."; "Screen Play by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts"; "Suggested by a Story by Virginia Kellogg"; about a psychotic killer who has frequent crippling headaches and although married, has an unnatural closeness to his aged mother) starring James Cagney (in one of his most memorable roles as Cody Jarrett; "in his new Warner hit"), Virginia Mayo (as Verna), Edmond O'Brien, Steve Cochran (as Big Ed), Fred Clark, Margaret Wycherly (unforgettable as the mother, Ma Jarrett, who really really loved her son, in her most memorable role!), John Archer, and Jim Thorpe (the legendary athlete in a cameo role!) Important Added Info: Note that this is one of 68 "faux" lobby card sets we were consigned, which we are auctioning in 68 separate auctions! They were created in 2021 by a long time collector who (like so many of us) chose to stay home this year a lot due to Covid, and he made these to help pass the time! He was inspired by the "Fantasy #9 lobby cards created several decades ago, each of which is from a classic horror/sci-fi movie, showing a great scene that wasn't in the original set! Similarly, our consignor created these 68 sets, using top images from each film! He did not make these through a computer program, but instead pasted together actual prints to create mock-ups. On most of these he make 8 card sets, but on a number of them he created sets with 9, 10, 11, 12 or 13! He then printed just THREE of each set, and he won't be reprinting them. He numbered the first card in each set, and what we are offering here is the "1 of 3" of this set, which means there are only two other sets, and there will never be more. Our consignor will permanently keep one of the three of each, but MAY give us the remaining set at a later time to auction. But the winner of this auction will have one of just three of these numbered sets that were created! Condition: fine. These faux lobby cards are in excellent condition!
