An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Reign of Terror (also released as "The Black Book"), the 1949 Anthony Mann France post-French Revolution film noir adventure thriller ("Open or Shut ...it can cost your life!"; "All the burning passions... the turbulent fury of a world gone mad!"; "Story and screenplay by Philip Yordan and Aeneas MacKenzie") starring Robert Cummings (Bob Cummings), Arlene Dahl, Richard Basehart (as Maximilian Robespierre), Richard Hart, Arnold Moss, Norman Lloyd, Beulah Bondi, Jess Barker, and Charles McGraw NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. This poster has been linenbacked, but it was not very well done, either because the restorer did not do a very good job, or because the years since it has been linenbacked have not been kind to the poster. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. Generally, it had small paper loss at the crossfolds, small tears and tiny paper loss on parts of the vertical foldline, and pinholes in the corners. There is an area of surface paper loss in the right of the bottom border that was not restored (or else it occurred after the poster was backed). The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above general defects and the restoration of the defects (in some cases, as should be immediately evident in our image, the linenbacker did no restoration to some of the defects). I can imagine some collectors displaying this poster just as it is, and accepting the defects and signs of restoration, although other collectors would only display it if it had additional restoration.
