If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. The modern version of the circus started in 1919 when the Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth, a circus created by P. T. Barnum and James Anthony Bailey, was merged with the Ringling Bros. World's Greatest Shows. With weakening attendance and high operating costs, the circus closed on May 21st, 2017 after 146 years. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been backed onto a thin paper backing with some excess paper all around. This is not like modern day "paperbacking", because the paper it was backed onto is very thin, and very little, if any, restoration was performed. It was likely done simply to preserve the poster, which no doubt was much more fragile before it was backed onto the thin paper. Note that because this poster was paperbacked onto a thin paper backing, it will be sent rolled in a tube. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had some stains across the top of the bottom blank border (it may have been glue residue from a snipe). As mentioned above, the poster was simply backed onto the thin paper backing with no real restoration (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
