An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Japanese "B3" or "Nakazuri" Movie Poster (14x20; measures 14 1/2" x 21" [37 x 53 cm]) (Learn More) Die Herrin von Atlantis (literally translates to "The Queen of Atlantis"), the 1932 G.W. Pabst (Georg Wilhelm Pabst) German fantasy melodrama (about French soldiers who find the mythical lost civilization of Atlantis) starring Brigitte Helm, Heinz Klingenberg, Gustav Diessl, Vladimir Sokoloff, and Tela Tchai. Note that this had been a best selling book by Pierre Benoit when it was published in 1919, and in 1921, Jacques Feyder turned it into a very expensive and very successful French movie, with an elaborate recreation of Atlantis (filmed in the Sahara Desert). In 1932, G.W. Pabst wanted to remake it, and his studio felt that the best way to recoup the enormous costs would be to film it simultaneously in THREE languages (German, French, and English), with many different cast members! This German version is called "Die Herrin von Atlantis", the French version is called "L'Atlantide", and the English version is called "The Mistress of Atlantis"! Note that Brigitte Helm starred in all three versions, but her co-stars were different in all three! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this Japanese B3 poster, which measures 14 1/2" x 21" [37 x 53 cm], is absolutely from the first release of this movie in Japan, in October of 1932 (this was verified for us by one of the leading Japanese collectors). Note that this is a very rare poster from Japan from before World War II. There are very few Japanese movie posters from before World War II in existence (likely because of paper shortages in Japan during World War II), and most of those few are in museums. Condition: good to very good. There is a thin metal strip attached to the top edge of the poster, with a small string hanger in the center of the strip (this is something we have seen on other older Japanese posters, which allowed them to be easily displayed. There are tiny pinholes in the bottom corners and small tears and scuffs in the left and right borders. There are light horizontal creases scattered throughout the poster and faint smudges and scuffs within the poster, and smudges in the bottom white area (see our image).
