An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) High Brow Stuff, the 1924 Rob Wagner silent Hollywood film-making actor comedy short (written and produced by Hal Roach; about an actor who is hired for film, and the director hates him, and tries to do everything he can to get the actor removed from the movie!) starring Will Rogers, and Marie Mosquini. Note that this movie combines two of the greatest names of early cinema, Hal Roach and Will Rogers, and not only does virtually no movie paper survive, but it is also a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Also, note that the one-sheet poster shows Rogers wearing a slouch hat and Pince-nez glasses, both of which were made famous by President Teddy Roosevelt, and it would seem that Rogers was parodying Roosevelt in the short. If anyone knows more about the plot, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this Hal Roach comedy short is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a single still, and NO other movie paper from this movie until we received this still! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss in the center of the top blank border, with some tiny paper loss in small parts of the rest of the blank borders, in the outer edges. It had a diamond-shaped area of paper loss at the middle crossfold, in the bottom of Rogers' neck. It had scattered small paper loss near the center of the bottom fold, slightly affecting the bottom of the letters of Rogers' name. Other than the above exact defects, the poster had very few defects of any kind, and the colors are bright. The poster was expertly backed by a top restorer, who did a wonderful job with the paper loss at the bottom of Rogers' neck and in the bottom of Rogers' name. The poster displays wonderfully, and few people could tell it had any restoration, even staring closely at those areas of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
