An Original Vintage Theatrical Danish Poster (measures 59" x 77 1/4" [150 x 196 cm]) (Learn More)

Enhver (released in English-speaking countries as "Everyman"), the 1915 Vilhelm Gluckstad Danish silent good-vs-evil melodrama starring Rasmus Ottesen (in the title role as Enhver), Jonna Neiiendam, Gudrun Houlberg, Valdemar Moller, Peter S. Andersen, and Lilly Jansen. Note that in 1911, the German poet Hugo von Hofmansthal wrote a new version of the medieval morality play Everyman. At the time, it was radical example of symbolist abstraction, and its success inspired this film version. The film was set in the modern era, and depicted the moral choices confronting Enhver as a struggle between a good and an evil spirit. Enhver is tempted by evil and succumbs, rejecting God and leading a life of iniquity, but he is haunted by guilty visions until he finally dies, asking God for forgiveness at the last moment.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster does not have the movie's title on it. This is not that unusual with European films of the 1910s. Often they would print posters without titles, so that they could be used in other countries, where they would either overprint the title in their language, or attach a snipe with the title in their language. The ones that would have overprinting would have a blank area for that purpose. This poster has full art with no blank area, so we know it is the kind that would have had the snipe attached. Note also that this item was printed in 4 sections designed to overlap.

Condition: very good. Each of the sections has some slight darkening in the borders and on the folds, with some tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on small parts of some folds. Overall, this poster has likely survived in as good condition as one could hope, especially given its very large size, and that it is over a century old!
