An Original Vintage Magazine (measures 8 1/2" x 11 3/4" [22 x 30 cm]) (Learn More) Glamour, one of the most famous "women's magazines" ("The Hollywood way to Fashion, Beauty, Charm"), which in modern times has a heavy emphasis on fashion, but few people are aware that it began publication in April of 1939 under the title "Glamour of Hollywood" (with the "of Hollywood" in tiny letters), and that it originally focused strongly on women in movies (but there was still a heavy emphasis on the fashions those stars wore). Within a few issues, the focus became more and more on fashion, with even the covers showing the stars wearing a suit that women could purchase! Approximately one year later, the "of Hollywood" was dropped, and it simply became "Glamour". Each issue features a great full color cover of a leading star of the day, plus lots of interior publicity stories about current stars and movies with many black and white images throughout. Also, in every issue are many wonderful vintage ads in black and white, and sometimes the ads can be just as much fun as the original stories and pictures. Of course, some of the ads are from movies that were about to open, and in the early days of eBay, people would remove those full-page ads and auction them by themselves, and they would often sell for $10, $20, or more, just for a single movie ad removed from a magazine just like this! Important Added Info: Note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, a picture of the table of contents page, and a picture of one interior two-page spread (but we didn't make much effort to find the best ones!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine, and the contents page lets you know exactly what articles and stories are contained in this particular issue. Please know that these magazines are sealed in bags and are ready for shipping, and we cannot answer any questions about them or look through them for you, so please bid (or do not bid) based on the images we have provided. Condition: good to very good. Note that we have attempted to check to see if the magazine is complete and uncut, and we believe that it is. However, there is a slight possibility that we might have missed a small cut or a page that was neatly removed, and if that happens, you can return the magazine.
