An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More) H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds, the classic 1953 Byron Haskin science fiction (sci-fi) Martian extraterrestrial alien invasion action thriller ("From the ends of the universe... they are reaching for YOU!"; produced by George Pal; loosely based on the classic novel by H.G. Wells; about seemingly unstoppable aliens invading the Earth) starring Gene Barry, Ann Robinson, Les Tremayne, Robert Cornthwaite, Lewis Martin, and Ann Codee NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This three-sheet was printed in 2 sections. Condition: very good. this poster was consigned by a collector who purchased the poster decades ago when it sold for a small amount. He wanted to put it on his wall, so he very carefully put transparent tape on the back of all the foldlines (he first put a sheet of white paper behind the top left corner of the poster, as there were many small tears and tiny areas of paper loss in the top of the left border, and he wanted the paper to give reinforcement to that area). He put tape on the back of the top edge of the bottom piece, so as to join it to the top piece, and then he also put a line of tape across the front of the poster where the two pieces joined (joining the two parts of the poster together, as intended, and this is the only tape on the front of the poster), and he then thumb tacked the poster to the wall! After a few years, he realized the growing value of the poster, and he carefully removed it from the wall, and stored it rolled ever since. None of the tape used on the back (or the one line of tape on the front) has darkened or bled through, EXCEPT for a single line of tape that he used on the back of the area where the two pieces join (this is very visible in our photo, as it runs around 1" below the tape that he put on the front, which is in the middle of the alien hand image). The reason this tape bled through is because he used a different tape for that one area, a tape that was 1 1/2" wide. Apparently, that tape was a kind that aged poorly. Other than the above described tape, the poster is in really nice condition! There are the tears and small areas of paper loss in the top of the left border mentioned above, and there are also a few other very tiny tears in the borders, and there were a few tiny tears and tiny holes at the crossfolds that were covered by the tape. If I owned this poster, I would have a top professional remove the tape from the back, and linenback it. It is likely that the single area of bleed-through in the alien hand that would require paint restoration, but it is also likely that NONE of the rest of the poster would require any restoration at all. The result would be a poster that looks great with only a tiny strip of restored area! Learn More about condition grades
