Captain Carey, U.S.A. (released in other English-speaking countries as "After Midnight" and in some countries simply as "Captain"), the 1950 Mitchell Leisen World War II (WWII) Italy military betrayal melodrama ("LADD's in action... In the war-torn Mediterranean!"; "LADD...in Hand-to-Hand combat...in the war torn Mediterranean!"; based on the novel by Martha Albrand) starring Alan Ladd (in the title role "as Captain Carey, U.S.A."), Wanda Hendrix, Francis Lederer, Joseph Calleia, and Celia Lovsky. It is interesting to note that this movie included the classic song "Mona Lisa", which won the Academy Award for Best Song, and that may be the single most remembered fact about this movie!

Important Added Info: Note that this American movie about an Italian traitor during World War II (and the officer who returns after the war to find him) was apparently too controversial and unpopular to be released in Italy in 1950, and it was first released there in 1960!
