An Autographed Letter (measures 7 1/4" x 10 1/2"; 1 page) (Learn More) Deborah Kerr (rhymes with 'star'!) was a Scottish actress from the 1940s to the 1980s. She had a quick rise to stardom in England in the early 1940s, and was in many movies there. She went to Hollywood in the early 1950s, and had some of her greatest successes during that decade, unusual at that time for an actress in her 30s (but she had aged REALLY well!). Some of her movies include: Edward My Son (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), An Affair to Remember, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, Black Narcissus, From Here To Eternity (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), The Innocents, Separate Tables (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Sundowners (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Heaven Knows Mr. Allison (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), King Solomon's Mines, and The King and I (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film). She passed away in 2007 at the age of 86. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Deborah Kerr! She thanks David Mallery and his family for the flowers and wonderful letter of praise (she says that she "shall keep that letter always"), and there is more good content (see our image). It comes with the envelope that Miss Kerr sent it in (she sent it from a hotel, and she wrote her last name above the hotel return address). Note that this letter comes from the estate of David Mallery. He was a professor of cinematography at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, from the 1960s into the 1990s. He was a founding member of the AFI (American Film Institute), and a member of the Motion Picture Academy. He was a film critic who wrote many reviews for many publications, and hosted a TV show where he interviewed directors, actors, and others involved in the film industry. Over the years, he developed both working and close personal relationships with many actors, actresses, and directors, including Frank Capra, Charlton Heston and others. We are currently auctioning 24 letters from directors and actors to Mr. Mallery. Almost all of them are written "from one friend to another", and are in no way "stock" replies to "fan letters", and all are personally signed, and some are entirely or partially handwritten.
