An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Ace in the Hole (also released as "The Big Carnival"), the classic 1951 Billy Wilder crime newspaper journalism film noir ("Written by Billy Wilder, Lesser Samuels and Walter Newman"; about a washed-up newspaperman who finds a man trapped in a cave-in and delays his rescue to get a better story!) starring Kirk Douglas, Jan Sterling, Robert Arthur (billed as "Bob Arthur"), Porter Hall, Frank Cady, and Richard Benedict. Most people believe that this movie was first released under the title "Ace in the Hole", but that when it was not very well received, the studio quickly created all new paper with the new title "The Big Carnival" (perhaps to confuse people as to the subject matter of the movie). Most collectors treat the movie paper with either title as "first release", but some collectors consider the material with "Ace in the Hole" to be less common, and therefore more desirable! Important Added Info: Note that we have always known that this movie was first released under the one title and then under a new more cheerful title, and we have seen many paper items with either title. But this is the very first time we have seen a poster that was printed with the first title that has a studio-issued printed snipe designed to be glued over the original title area (and since the original title area is very large, it needed a VERY large snipe!). The theater that received this poster had attached the snipe with tape (as can clearly be seen in the image) but the snipe is no longer attached (the loose snipe will be sent with the poster). Note that this three-sheet was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap.
UPDATED 10/13/2014: Note that we have updated the Important Added Info section above. Condition: good. There is some paper loss in the blank borders (see our image). There are some creases and several tears along the foldlines that were on the outside when the poster was fully folded.
