An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Photobusta Movie Poster (pbusta; measures 18 1/2" x 25 3/4" [47 x 65 cm]) (Learn More) Il Deserto Rosso (released in the U.S. in 1965 as "Red Desert"), the classic 1964 Michelangelo Antonioni Italian family dysfunctional relationship mental illness melodrama ("Michelangelo Antonioni in his first color film.") starring Monica Vitti, Richard Harris ("[star of 'This Sporting Life']"), Carlo Chionetti (billed as "Carlo De Pra"), Rita Renoir, Xenia Valderi, and Aldo Grotti. Note that this is what's known as a "difficult" movie! It is slow moving with lots of talking and little action of any kind. But, on repeated viewings, it often grows on the viewer until they often consider it to be a masterpiece! Other movies like this include "The Passion of Joan of Arc", "Last Year at Marienbad" and several others. If you like the movies like this you have seen you should definitely also watch this one! Note that this item (and others we are auctioning in this set of auctions) come to us from the estate of Lee Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a nationally recognized projectionist, film poster collector, and union activist who passed away earlier this year, and the net proceeds from the sale of his varied and eclectic collection will be donated to promote film studies at the Besant School of Happy Valley in Ojai, Ca. Condition: good to very good. There are yellowed pieces of tape on the front and back of the corners of the poster, but they were not put there for any restoration purpose. There is a slightly diagonal crease down the poster at left and there are some creases down the center from it being folded off-center at one time.
