His Big Band was called "Horace Heidt and His Musical Knights". Heidt's theme song was "I'll Love You in My Dreams" (which he co-wrote). His biggest hit was "Deep in the Heart of Texas". Some of his other hits include: I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire, This Can't Be Love, Gone With the Wind, and Stars and Stripes Forever. He passed away in 1986 at the age of 85. Important Added Info: Note that this promo photo has been personally autographed (signed) by Horace Heidt! It is one of two 8 1/4" x 10" promotional photos (printed on a "flat" non-photo paper) that were created when Horace Heidt was touring. The one that is signed shows him selling war stamps at the Chicago Theatre, and the other that is not signed, shows him "entertaining at Great Lakes" (see our images). Note that this is one of a wonderful collection of 91 items that were assembled by a collector decades ago, mostly from RR Auctions, which has auctioned signed items since 1976. The person who purchased these items passed away several years ago, and while he did not save most of the certificates of authenticity he received when he bought these signed items, almost all were purchased between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, and we think it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is genuine. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
