An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) I Married a Communist (this film premiered in the U.S. in late 1949 as "I Married a Communist", but was given a general release in 1950 as "The Woman on Pier 13"), the 1949 Robert Stevenson romantic anti-Communism crime film noir ("Her Beauty served a mob of terror whose one mission is to destroy!"; "High voltage melodrama!") starring Laraine Day, Robert Ryan, John Agar, Thomas Gomez, Janis Carter, Richard Rober, Fred Graham, and William Talman. Note that this is an unusual movie in two respects! One is that the movie had a Hollywood premiere in October of 1949 under the title "I Married a Communist", but had its general release in June of 1950, and by that point, the title had been changed to "The Woman on Pier 13" (perhaps anti-Communist sentiment had grown enough during those few months that RKO did not want to release a movie that sounded remotely sympathetic to Communism, even though the movie was completely anti-Communism!). There was movie paper printed with the "I Married a Communist" title in 1949, and new movie paper was printed with "The Woman on Pier 13" title in 1950. As the film was still in continuous release, we do not consider "The Woman on Pier 13" to be a re-release. Finally, note that this movie was released when RKO was owned by Howard Hughes, but the paper from both releases does not give any credit to Hughes, which is odd, because the other movies RKO made at that time have a giant "Howard Hughes Presents" credit! If anyone knows more about either of the two releases of this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: very good to fine. Other than darkening in the blank borders, the card is in quite nice condition!
