An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style C One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Dramatic School, the 1938 Robert B. Sinclair romantic theater acting school melodrama ("Daring Intimate Revelations Behind the Scenes"; a really clever story of girls at an acting school where one of them is always falling asleep in class, and she tells her friends that is because she has a rich French boyfriend, when actually she is working in a factory to pay to go to the school; one of the rich female students invites her and her "boyfriend" to a party, intending to humiliate her, but the Frenchman is told of what occurred, and he pretends to actually be her boyfriend, and of course, they fall in love; but ultimately they part when the girl realizes that she loves the theater even more than her rich boyfriend!) starring Luise Rainer, Paulette Goddard, Alan Marshal, Lana Turner (in her sixth credited role!), Anthony Allen, Henry Stephenson, and Genevieve Tobin. Note that the lead roles in this movie were played by Rainer and Goddard, both 28, and both pretending to be school girls. They cast actual teenagers to play the other students, and one of them was Lana Turner, who was only 17, a year after her memorable cameo in "They Won't Forget", and a year away from getting really noticed and becoming a star! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: fair. This poster has been linenbacked, but it was not very well done, likely both because the restorer did not do a good job at all, and because the years since it has been linenbacked have not been kind to the poster. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Generally, it had a tape stain in the upper center of the vertical foldline that is very noticeable, paper loss at the bottom crossfold, and pinholes, creases, and tears around the edges of the poster. The poster was not well backed at all, because you can still see some or all of the defects generally described above (in some cases, as should be immediately evident in our image, the linenbacker did no restoration to some of the defects), and if there was restoration of the above defects, it was not done very well. Certainly, a talented restorer could perform additional restoration (either with or without re-backing the poster), but it might be fairly expensive to have this done, so bear that in mind before you place a bid.
