A Group of 2 Photographic Negatives (measure 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm]) (Learn More) Carole Lombard was an actress from the 1920s to the 1940s. In her early movies, she mostly had minor supporting roles in comedies, and she was billed as "Carol", but she added the "e" as she became a major star. One of her greatest successes was Twentieth Century, where she played a girl who has never acted, who becomes a great star under the tutelage of Svengali-like John Barrymore. Some of her other movies include: To Be or Not To Be, My Man Godfrey (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Mr. and Mrs. Smith. In the early 1930s, she married William Powell, but they amicably divorced, and several years later, she had a torrid love affair with Clark Gable, and they later married. Lombard died tragically in a 1942 plane crash when she was at the height of her career. She was just 33 years old. Important Added Info: Note that these negatives have no information with them, so we don't know when they were created, but we are guessing the 1930s. Each negative comes together with a paper print of a positive image. Also note that this (or these, in the case of multiple negatives) was created by and sent by the studio that produced this (in the year noted on this auction) to newspapers, magazines, TV stations, or reviewers, so that they could use them to create the highest quality ads. They can be used to make very high quality reproductions, but bear in mind that we are solely auctioning the physical negatives and NOT the right to reproduce them, so unless they are public domain, the new owner must acquire the rights elsewhere before reproducing them. NOTE THAT THE ITEM(S) YOU ARE PURCHASING IS A "NEGATIVE" THAT HAS A REVERSE IMAGE, AS SEEN IN OUR PHOTO (we also scanned them as well, using a special "negative setting", which reverses the image, so that you can see how the negative appears when you reverse the image, but the buyer of this auction will receive one or more negatives, NOT a positive image, as seen in our special scan). Condition: very good. The negatives do not have plastic sleeves, but it would certainly be easy to acquire some. Learn More about condition grades
