An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style B One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Prince of Broadway, the 1926 John Gorman silent New York City boxing prizefighting sports romantic love triangle melodrama (about the heavyweight boxing champion who drinks and parties all the time, earning him his nickname, but that causes him to lose his title, and he ends up in the gutter; his childhood sweetheart helps him make a comeback, but a jealous rival tries to keep that from happening, and of course, he ends up winning the championship back, and also his sweetie) starring George Walsh, Alyce Mills, Alma Bennett, James J. Jeffries, Freeman Wood, "and an all star cast". Note that part of the movie is a sequence during the boxer's comeback, where a former heavyweight champ happens to live next door, and the ex-champ helps train him to win back the title. That role was played by Jim Jeffries (billed as "James J. Jeffries"), real life ex-heavyweight boxing champ! Also note that George Walsh was a major silent star (and brother of director Raoul Walsh). Click on his name to learn about his fascinating career, and why you likely have never heard of him! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster shows two men, and it looks like both are large men (likely boxers), and the one is encouraging the other, which makes us think that the two men pictured are George Walsh and ex-world champ Jim Jeffries! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had some fine surface paper loss on the top horizontal fold and some faint scuffing scattered through parts of the poster. It had some tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting.
