An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 14 1/2" x 29 1/4" [37 x 74 cm]) (Learn More) Mann gegen Mann (released in the U.S. as "Man Against Man"), the 1928 Harry Piel German boxing sports melodrama starring Harry Piel, Fritz Beckmann, Charly Berger, Eugen Burg, Charles Francois, Dary Holm, Georg John, Philipp Manning, and Hertha von Walther. Note that star/director Harry Piel was a major figure in early cinema. He wrote and directed his first movie when he was just 20 years old in 1912, and he made several movies over the next three years, and then began acting in them as well! He made many movies over the next decades. In 1933, he joined the Nazi party and made movies for them. In 1934, he made Der Herr der Welt, a science fiction movie with robots, but he had actually used robots in a movie he made in 1915! At the end of World War II, he was sentenced to 6 months in jail and banned from the film industry for 5 years. In 1950, he started a new film company, but did not have much success, and he retired in 1953 and passed away in 1961. Unfortunately, almost all the negatives of his silent films were destroyed when Germany was bombed during World War II, so few of his films survive, and that, combined with his Nazi collaboration, has caused him to be largely forgotten, except by major film buffs. Artist: Segura Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a remarkable find of 143 Argentinean posters from 1926 to 1929 that were recently discovered! They all measure approximately 14 1/4" x 28 1/4", which was one of the two main sizes created for Argentinean movie posters at that time (the other was a poster that measured 29" x 43"). It is likely that prior to this amazing find, there were only a small number of these posters known to exist in the entire world, and after these 143 are auctioned, it is unlikely that there will be many more discovered, even over the coming decades! This is a rare opportunity to purchase an Argentinean poster from the late 1920s, a time when virtually no movie posters from any country are known to exist! Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. There are a few minor patches of slight discoloration scattered in various areas (more so along the foldlines), typical of Argentinean posters of this time period. Learn More about condition grades
