A Photographic Negative (measures 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm]) (Learn More) Betty Grable was an actress from the 1930s to the 1950s, often appearing in romantic musicals. Some of her movies include: Million Dollar Legs, Tin Pan Alley, Moon Over Miami, and Down Argentine Way. She is perhaps best remembered for her famous sexy legs, and one of her pin-up images, which was one of the absolute most popular ones displayed by soldiers during World War II (at one time, her legs were insured for $1,000,000 by Lloyds of London!). She was married to actor Jackie Coogan, and then later to bandleader Harry James (with whom she had two children). She passed away in 1973 at the age of 56 from lung cancer. Important Added Info: Note that this classic image was used to promote Coney Island. Also, note that this is a "studio-issued" negative. What is it? It was produced by the studio but is not the camera original. It is very high quality and was created in quantity by the studios and sent to media outlets or other places that had need of the very highest quality image for reproduction purposes (in newspapers, magazines, or elsewhere). We have put a scan of the negative that shows the "positive image" (in addition to an image of the negative image). REMEMBER THAT WHAT YOU RECEIVE WILL BE A PHOTOGRAPHIC NEGATIVE, NOT A POSITIVE IMAGE LIKE YOU ARE SEEING. The negative is in a plastic sleeve (but we removed it and scanned it, so that bidders could see just how high quality it is). It will be sent to the winner of the auction in its sleeve. Condition: good to very good. There are a few faint stains around the edges of the back of the negative that look to be from water drops (surely they can be cleaned).
