An Original Vintage Unfolded Circus Poster (measures 20 1/4" x 27" [51 x 69 cm]) (Learn More)

The Dailey Bros Circus was created in 1940 by Ben Davenport, who previously ran a touring animal exhibits and a sidewall (no tent) circus. He and his wife Eva purchased elephants from Honest Bill Newton's circus and the circus grew rapidly, and in 1942 they had sixteen trucks filled with elephants. In 1944, Ben converted his truck show to a 10 car railroad circus (and soon added 5 more cars). Ben included his daughter Norma in the circus and billed her as the world's youngest elephant trainer at 11 years old. The circus eventually closed in 1950.

Important Added Info: Note that have never auctioned this poster in all our years of auctioning!

Condition: good. The poster was placed on to a very thin linen backing shortly after being printed. The purpose was to reinforce the poster, so that it would survive, when it was passed from theater to theater, and when it was put up on walls and taken down. Such posters can be professionally removed from the original linen and placed on to a proper linen backing. It has several light scuffs scattered in various areas and there are some smudges in a few areas.
