A 1977 Platinum Movie Soundtrack Record (frame measures 16 3/4" x 20 3/4" [43 x 53 cm]) (Learn More) Star Wars (now known as "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope"), the classic 1977 George Lucas (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) outer space fantasy action adventure science fiction (sci-fi) epic ("A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."; "George Lucas, the man who brought you American Graffiti now brings you an adventure as big as the cosmos itself: Star Wars, the story of a boy, a girl, and a universe. It's a spectacle light years ahead of its time from 20th Century Fox."; "Written and Directed by George Lucas"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Mark Hamill (as Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (as Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (as Princess Leia), Peter Cushing (as Grand Moff Tarkin), Alec Guinness (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Obi-Wan Kenobi), Anthony Daniels (as C-3PO), James Earl Jones (as the voice of Darth Vader), David Prowse (billed as "Dave Prowse"; as the man inside the Darth Vader suit!), Peter Mayhew (as Chewbacca), Kenny Baker (as R2-D2), and Phil Brown (as Uncle Owen) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "platinum record" that was "presented to 20th Century Records to commemorate the sale of more than 1,000,000 copies of the 20th Century Records long-playing record album 'Star Wars'". This style of platinum record is called the "floater style", which was the only style made in 1977, so that reinforces that this is from that year. This is exactly as it was created and presented, which is in a frame with a record "floating" inside along with two other items beneath it (see our image). We know of one platinum record similar to this that is owned by a major Star Wars collector, and he does not know of others, but he thinks that somewhere between 10 and 20 of these would have been originally made. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Obviously, since this is a framed item, it will need to be sent EXTREMELY carefully packed in a very large box! Note that this item was consigned to us by a person who worked for Fox in the 1980s. They asked for, and received, this record, and a Star Wars triple-bill poster, which had been returned to them by the San Francisco theater that showed the triple-bill (we are auctioning the triple-bill poster in a separate auction). This is an extremely rare opportunity to purchase a platinum record and/or a triple-bill poster! Condition: very good. The framed record is exactly the same as it was when it was created. It has smudges and faint dirt stains on the glass (which surely could be cleaned) and there are some tiny scuffs and nicks on the frame, which is slightly separating in the bottom corners of the molding (easily repaired). After a minor cleaning, this item will look fantastic displayed on the new owner's wall! Learn More about condition grades
