An Original Vintage Theatrical 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Queen Christina, the 1933 Rouben Mamoulian Sweden royalty doomed romance romantic melodrama ("The Secret Loves of Queen Christina"; about a Swedish Queen who falls in love with a Spaniard, but is forced to marry her cousin) starring Greta Garbo (in the title role as Queen Christina; "Garbo returns"; "Triumphant return to the screen"), John Gilbert, Ian Keith, Lewis Stone, Elizabeth Young, C. Aubrey Smith, and Reginald Owen. Note that this John Gilbert sound movie, like all his sound movies, completely dispels the myth that he had a high-pitched speaking voice, which ended his career! Actually, he had a fine speaking voice, and there is much speculation as to what it was that actually ended his career, and that can be found in various places on the Internet, but it was definitely not his voice! Also, note that after making four movies in 1931, Garbo took an 18 month break before making this her next movie, and so it was advertised as her "triumphant return to the screen".
