An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More)

Gilbert Roland (born Luis Antonio Damaso de Alonso) was a Mexican actor from the 1920s to the 1980s. His father was a bullfighter, and he planned to be the same, but he caught the acting bug! He got his screen name by combining the names of his favorite actors, John Gilbert and Ruth Roland! Because of his Mexican heritage, he often played "ethnic" roles, but he was a leading man in the 1920s, and continued to have starring roles for decades, and he seemingly never aged, looking much the same in the 1950s as he had in the 1920s. And he lived to age 89, passing away in 1994, while almost all of his contemporary male stars passed away in their 50s and 60s (and he, like almost all of them, was a heavy smoker). He must have had incredible genes! Some of his movies include: The Last Train from Madrid, Malaya, and The Sea Hawk
Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Gilbert Roland! Note that the still is glued to a linen-like backing (we think it is highly likely this was a key book still, and that someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the left of the still, no doubt so it could be put in a frame).

Our consignor is a very longtime collector of movie paper who regularly attended the Chiller collectible show. This signed item (and the others offered from this collector) were purchased at a Chiller convention over the years. In some cases, he had them signed by the celebrity when they appeared in person at the show, and in other cases, he purchased them from Kevin Clement, who runs the Chiller shows, and in all cases, he (and we) believe this signature is authentic.

Condition: very good. The left 1" was neatly trimmed off (see above) and there is a crease in the bottom right corner of the image.
