Note that the credit "Screenplay based on a story by Monckton Hoffe" sounds reminiscent of a W.C. Fields credit for himself under a wacky pseudonym, but actually, Monckton Hoffe is a real man, who was an Irish playwright, who worked in Hollywood mostly in the late 1920s through the early 1940s, but "The Lady Eve" is far and away his most famous credit! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in this wedding scene from the movie, Barbara Stanwyck's wedding dress was designed by famed costume designer Edith Head, and it became known in the fashion world as "The Lady Eve Dress", and variations on it were worn by countless brides at that time (and this was the first of many movies where Edith Head designed Barbara Stanwyck's wardrobe). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: fair to good. The card has pinholes, smudges, and a few stains around the edges, with crayon writing in the top blank border. The theater that used this card only wanted to display the image, and they folded back the area at the bottom of the image and the right 2", but did not trim off those areas, so the card is complete. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back. Obviously, the card can be restored, and it is likely that most or all of the stains can be removed chemically, and after proper restoration, the card will display well, but bear in mind its significant defects (and look at our super-sized images) before bidding on this card.
