An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Bus Stop, the 1956 Joshua Logan Phoenix Arizona romantic comedy ("The coming of age of Bo Decker... And the girl who made him a man!"; "Give this cowboy enough rope and he'll land Marilyn Monroe"; "You got an idea a woman should be treated like an animal!"; "Based on the stage play by William Inge"; about a cowboy who meets a beautiful showgirl, and has the fantasy that she will go to his ranch to live with him, so that she can escape her tawdry life, but she has other ideas) starring Marilyn Monroe, Don Murray (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; billed as "Introducing Hollywood's newest hunk of man"), Arthur O'Connell, Betty Field, Hope Lange, Robert Bray, Eileen Heckart, and Henry Slate. Note that this film had been intended to star Elvis and Marilyn but Elvis' manager prevented this from happening, and that Don Murray, who was a success on Broadway, but was yet to make his first movie, stepped in to Elvis' shoes! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This three-sheet was printed in 2 sections (instead of the normal two-thirds/one-third proportion of the two pieces, the top piece of this poster ends at Marilyn's foot, and the bottom piece is small and has the bottom inset photos and the credits; this was surely done so that Marilyn's image could be unbroken!). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was used in Europe and it had a foreign stamp in the top left corner. It had slight darkening and creases on parts of the folds, with some smudges and scuffs scattered in the white background areas, and some tack holes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer did not touch the foreign stamp at top left. At some point after the poster was backed, it was roughly handled, and it acquired a tear and tiny paper loss in the right purple background of the center inset image at the bottom, and also a 5" tear in the white background at the bottom of that image, with some creases along the bottom edge. A restorer can certainly perform restoration to these defects with or without re-backing the poster, but bear all the above in mind before placing a bid on this poster.
