A 1951 Realart Re-release Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card #4 (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Frankenstein, the classic 1931 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller ("The monster that terrorized the world!"; "The Man Who Made a Monster"; "Warning! The monster is loose!"; "Based upon the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Story"; "Adapted by John L. Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good to very good. there are creases and faint smudges around the edges of the card; there is a 1" semi-circular tear in the top blank border starting just above the monster's head and circling just at the top of his head (there was no paper loss, and it was repaired with a piece of tape from the back); there is a penciled "20.00" in the top left corner; there are a few smudges just above some letters of the title; there were two other small tears in the right of the top blank border that were repaired with tape from the back and there is one tear each in the right and bottom blank borders, each repaired with tape from the back; there are 13 tiny tack holes in the image background above Clive's head (they are so tiny that I had to look at the back of the card to see them); there is a tack hole in the background above the monster's head and one in the middle of the left of the card and one in the middle of the right of the card (both within the image area). Other than the tear that just touches the monster's head, the image area is generally in nice condition and would display well just as it is. Of course, any talented restorer could greatly improve the appearance of the card, without putting virtually any paint on it. Learn More about condition grades
