An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Forty by Sixty Movie Poster (40x60; measures 40" x 60" [102 x 152 cm]) (Learn More) Dirty Harry, the classic 1971 Don Siegel San Francisco California police detective action crime thriller ("Detective Harry Callahan. He doesn't break murder cases. He smashes them."; "You don't assign him to murder cases. You just turn him loose."; "Dirty Harry and the homicidal maniac. Harry's the one with the badge."; about an unorthodox cop who tracks down a psychotic murderer; based on the real-life Zodiac killer who terrorized San Francisco, California in the 1960s) starring Clint Eastwood (in the title role as Harry Callahan), Harry Guardino, Reni Santoni, Andrew Robinson (in the role of his life as the crazed psycho killer!; billed as "Andy Robinson"), John Larch, John Vernon ("as 'The Mayor'"), Lyn Edington, and Bill Couch NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned this "regular" style 40x60 twice in all our years of auctioning (see below for more on the three different styles). Both of those examples were only in "good" condition, and one sold for $3,200 and the other sold for $2,150! Also note that Warner Bros. created three different 40x60s for this classic movie! One has the great colorful image of Eastwood with his gun in motion (and the great taglines above it). One of the others was a special "Life Magazine" style (about the story in that magazine about this movie), and the other was a special "Time Magazine" style (which reproduced part of the Time Magazine article about the movie). All three of these posters are extremely rare! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had many creases and scuffs scattered throughout. It also had many tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Given the poster's many defects, the restorer did a pretty good job of making it presentable, but at some point after it was backed, it acquired a horizontal crease in the top 7" of the poster that caused it to crack on that crease in the right two-thirds of that crease (see our image). Please bear in mind this poster's many defects and the restoration it has had before placing a bid on it. Learn More about condition grades
