An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Man About Town, the 1939 Mark Sandrich romantic love triangle musical comedy (Benny is a producer who brings his show to London, and he ignores his girlfriend/star, and they get involved with a noble English couple in the same situation, and both females do their best to make their better halves jealous) starring Jack Benny, Dorothy Lamour, Edward Arnold, Binnie Barnes, Phil Harris, Betty Grable, Eddie 'Rochester' Anderson, E.E. Clive, featuring Matty Malneck & His Orchestra, and Monty Woolley. Note that the woman on the left of the one-sheet poster looks like it should be Betty Grable, but she was 7th billed and only appeared in a minor role, singing one song, so it has to be Binnie Barnes, who is the second female lead, and part of the romantic love triangle with Jack Benny and Dorothy Lamour.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tears and paper loss at the top and bottom crossfolds, with some separation, small tears, and tiny bits of paper loss on the foldlines. There were pinholes around the edges with some paper loss scattered in the right border. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that the restorer left a tiny bit of excess linen around all four sides of the poster (they left a small border in order to protect the poster from handling damage, but they did not leave a larger border, to allow it to more easily fit in a frame).
