An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (Learn More) The Infidel, the 1922 James Young South Seas romantic love triangle melodrama (about a woman who travels with a group of Christian missionaries to a tropical island, and their minister covets her, as does a local "nabob", and she doesn't want either of them, and the enraged nabob threatens to kill all the Christians, and the marines show up at the end to save everybody) starring Katharine MacDonald, Robert Ellis, Joseph Dowling, Boris Karloff (as the nabob), and Melbourne MacDowell. Note that Boris Karloff was in his fourth year of making movies, and he seemed to be settling in to playing menacing villains, often exotic types, as in this movie.
